5 Minutes: #reverb10 Day 15

Today’s prompt: Imagine you will completely lose your memory of 2010 in five minutes. Set an alarm for five minutes and capture the things you most want to remember about 2010. (Author: Patti Digh)

Well, I imagine I’d be so busy running from the imminent blow to the head that I wouldn’t have time to sit down and gather up memories. If I did, I’m sure I’d first think about the new members of my family who have arrived this year through birth and marriage. I’d think about good times with family and friends. I wouldn’t worry too much about everything else because I’ve blogged about it all. I could just go back and read my year all over again once I got out of the hospital.

But the part that would really anger me would be forgetting how to do the tasks I’ve had to learn for work this year. I am breathing a big sigh of relief right now because I’ve survived a semester made extraordinarily stressful by the fact that we changed to a new version of Blackboard only days before classes began. If I had to make that transition again right now I would run screaming into the woods, and you would never see me again.

Of course, with the concussion and all from whatever it was that made me lose my memory, my chances of survival alone in the woods wouldn’t be that great, but I would take them over having to redo 2010 at work. Please don’t make me.
