Photo Extras: Tree Pose and Head in the Clouds #photography

I posted my Day 6 photo for my 365 project earlier today, but I have a couple more Flickr uploads to share. I joined the Flickr group Our Daily Challenge a few days ago. They post a new photo prompt every day. That’s helpful to me for several reasons. It gives me some direction for my 365 project so that I’m not just left on my own to come up with a new idea every day. It provides a sense of community. I know I’m doing this with a group of other people who are all trying to complete their own photo projects. Mainly, though, it just makes the whole thing fun.

I joined a few days late, so I’ve had some shots to make up. Today, I used the image I chose for my 365 project (Just five more minutes, please) as my response to the prompt “Quite Place.”

This is my response to the prompt “Portrait from Behind.”

And here’s my response to today’s prompt, “Jump.”

Now I have just one more missed day to make up. That one is “Sculpture.” Ironically enough, I actually did choose a sculpture photo for my 365 project the day that I joined this group. The rules of the group say you can only use a shot that was taken after the prompt was posted. I did take mine after the prompt was posted, but it was still before I knew about the prompt. I’m going to be extra precise about this and seek out another way to get the shot.

I’m going to try to do the challenge photo every day. I want to do all 365 of them if possible. I’m not thinking of this as my 365 project, though. Some day the challenge shot will be my pick for my own project, and some days it won’t be. I’ll let myself fall behind on the challenge shots and make them up later if necessary. I’m going to try not to fall behind on the 365. I want to very literally post a photo every single day of 2011. Hey, I’ve made it to Day 6. 359 more seem quite possible.

For those of you wondering, I do have pictures of children’s faces from today as well as their feet. I picked this shot because I liked the composition. If you’ve read my blog before, you probably already know that this little girl has a cute face.

I will share some of the other trampoline shots later. I need to sort through them first, and I’m too tired for that. Photographing a two-year-old is hard work. She doesn’t believe in staying in one place long enough to help the camera out.

Day 6: Just 5 more minutes, please

6 of 365. Even ducks like to sleep in on a day like today.

This was taken at the lake on the JCJC campus this morning. Ducks will probably feature in my 365 project almost as often as cats. The lake is the easiest natural setting to walk to from my office. I’ve also vowed that instead of sitting at my desk feeling anxious when Blackboard and/or the campus Internet connection goes down, I’m going to just pick up my camera and go for a walk. The walk will calm me down and, with luck, get me out of the office just long enough for technology failures to right themselves again.

Last semester we had some sort of Blackboard issue nearly every day. I was at my wit’s end. I didn’t like wit’s end very much. I don’t want to go back. Look for lots of pictures of ducks in the coming months.
