Back to the basics of salad, or Day 6 on a diet

I didn’t set out to pay penance today for the fact that I had a “day of not counting” on my diet yesterday. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to do that. I have no aspirations to be a martyr.

I did, however, consume only about 800 calories today if my calculations are correct. That’s 500 less than my daily goal of 1300 calories. The deficit today probably just about evenly matches the amount I went over yesterday. Funny how things like that work out.

Funnier still is the fact that I never was hungry all day, and I had to remind myself to stop what I was doing to eat supper. Otherwise I would have still been down at about 450 calories.

This is how it happened. I ate egg beaters for breakfast, watermelon for a snack, a salad for lunch, yogurt for a snack, and a salad for supper. I put stuff on my salads too so that they filled me up. I just didn’t use much in the way of cheese or salad dressing. I put a small amount of lite salad dressing on the first salad. I second one I put no dressing on because it was a taco salad. I let the vegetarian chili be the salad dressing. It was plenty tasty too.

I’m sure if I’d planned to eat mostly salad today I would have been miserable with the idea. Since I didn’t plan it and only did it that way because I was absorbed in doing other things, I was more than happy to stuff myself with the green leafies.

That’s it. That’s all I have to report. One more day down.
