Cheating at blogging, on a personal blog, is like cheating at solitaire. It can be done, but why bother? I have no idea why, yet I confess to having done it. I wouldn’t dream of cheating against a person, but sometimes I do move cards around just to keep the game going if nothing is at stake.

This is my blog that I started posting daily to on January 1 of this year. I have not missed a day since then. I don’t really know why. When I started on the daily blog challenge I had no particular goal in mind. I was just going to blog every day until I quit. I think I wanted to beat my previous daily blogging record at some point, but I did that a few months ago. Now I’m just back to the idea that I’ll keep going until I quit.

Which should mean that it wouldn’t be a big deal to miss a day.

I don’t think it would be a big deal.

That’s why there’s no particular explanation for why I’ve been blogging without really blogging for the past few days. I’ve been posting pictures, which would be perfectly legit if I were using my camera. But no, I haven’t even made that effort. I’ve been posting pictures from my phone. I haven’t even logged into my blog for days, though I do still have a post to show for all of those days I wasn’t actually even looking at my blog.

This is a mild form of cheating that I’m going to claim here and now is perfectly okay. I won’t be moving into real cheating until I start changing the date and time stamps on my posts.

It sort of amazes me that I haven’t changed any time stamps yet. I’ve genuinely posted something every day even when what I posted wasn’t all that genuine.

And here I am at month 7 still wondering why and for how long. I don’t know. You can’t plan a good compulsion. You have to just jump in there and live with it.

That’s it. That’s all you get today. I have to play a round of solitaire now. I have a bet on myself.

  1. Admire. You’ve been at it 6 months and 27 days longer than I would have been, but I already know that I can’t write a blog or a diary or a journal every day.
So, you get the Admire of the day.
