This is the house I grew up in. It is on the campus of what is now the Mississippi School for the Arts. When we lived there, it was Whitworth College.
It is in a state of grave disrepair, but today I attended a ground breaking ceremony to celebrate the start of renovations. Thanks to a grant from the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, the house will be saved.
I was thrilled to learn that the Arts School plans to use it as a literary center. Every writer should be so lucky as to say the state has preserved her childhood home as a literary center for its most talented young minds.

And talented you are. As proven today by Suzanne Hirsh’s reading of part of your blog. Congratulations Sharon, you captured the spirit of Elizabeth Cottage for all the folks there to see!
