Defy me at your peril

This was my attempt at using the semi-automatic settings on my camera. I don’t remember what the settings were. If I want to learn more control over the snapshots, I should probably make note of these things. I still managed, however, to get this very sinister looking picture of my very sweet cat.

He has scar tissue on his eye from an old dispute with another cat. That makes him appear even angrier in a close up picture like this. Really, he’s a very sweet guy.

Anyway, one of my goals for 2011 is to learn my way around the semi-automatic settings. Maybe in 2012 I’ll work on manual, or maybe not. I’m not sure why I would pay for a camera that is basically a computer and then use it on fully manual. I have a 25-year-old fully manual Pentax K1000 I could stick some film in if I want to be a purist.

I don’t care about artistic purity. I just want more artistic range and more creative control. I want to do things like take pictures of my black cat without a shine on his fur from the reflection of the flash.

So far, so good, and I haven’t even gotten started yet.
