She loves birds and does all she can to make them comfortable enough to hang around for her to watch.  I usually give them a passing glance and move on with my life.  I don&#8217;t know birds.  Aside from the most glaringly obvious like Woodpeckers and Cardinals, I don&#8217;t think their names when I see them.<\/p>\n<p>This week, though, I bought the telephoto lens and decided I wanted to photograph birds.  Funny thing, but that makes me want to know their names so I don&#8217;t look too dumb when I post their pictures on my blog.<\/p>\n<p>This is a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chipping_Sparrow\">Chipping Sparrow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/sgerald\/4444699408\/\" title=\"IMG_3270 by Sharon Gerald, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4036\/4444699408_e4771bef5f.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"IMG_3270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yes, I had to look that up.  Maybe next time I&#8217;ll remember the name, but I didn&#8217;t this time.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what this is.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/sgerald\/4443929623\/\" title=\"IMG_3304 by Sharon Gerald, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2755\/4443929623_be566f0617.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" alt=\"IMG_3304\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a paranoid bird, looking under the feeder for potential enemies, but beyond that I don&#8217;t know its name.  I&#8217;m sure it is something embarrassingly common.  My mother will probably call to tell me before long, and I&#8217;ll be properly embarrassed by it.  If she does, I&#8217;ll let you know.<\/p>\n<p>***<\/p>\n<p>Addendum:  After digging around in Wikipedia a little longer, I&#8217;ve decided my mystery bird is a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brown-headed_Nuthatch\">Brown-Headed Nuthatch<\/a>.
