Our Daily Challenge prompt — Lines.

Thanks to my friend Tammy for modeling for me on this one.

I wish I had framed this up a little differently. Less sky, more feet. But I didn’t and for good reason. I couldn’t see what I was doing.

I’ve learned about the camera that the middle of the day is the worst time to take pictures. The shots will be overexposed, and there will be a glare on the camera LCD so that you’re just sort of guessing what settings you’ve selected. Much better to get out there very early in the morning or very late in the afternoon.

Sometimes a few minutes of walking around with the camera on my lunch break is the only chance I have to grab the shot at all, though. It was certainly the only chance I had to take this one with a person in it.

I guess my real photography lesson then is that life doesn’t come with optimal circumstances. If you really want to improve your craft — at whatever you’re doing — you’ll work the hardest on making the best of what you have.

Today, this was the best of what I had. And that’s not so bad. Anything that has you singing Johnny Cash in the office can’t be too bad.

26 of 365.
