We&#8217;ve had rain mixed with sleet off and on today.  Nothing serious so far, but still winter is making its presence known.  When I saw that the photo prompt from Our Daily Challenge (Flickr group) was &#8220;tree&#8221; today, I thought, &#8220;That might be a problem.  I&#8217;m not going outside.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t have to it turns out.  I just opened the window in my kitchen and snapped a shot of the back yard.  I was quite pleased to find my friend the woodpecker in this happensnap.  The photo is a bit grainy because I cropped way down to emphasize the bird.  I need to plant a tree the woodpecker would be interested in a little closer to my kitchen window, I guess.<\/p>\n<p>In other back yard news, my fears that the birds would not find the new feeder I set up yesterday were grossly unfounded.  They come not in single spies but in battalions.  <\/p>\n<p>On the next warm day I&#8217;m going to clean the glass in my back doors so that I can take pictures through the glass.  I should be able to catch some interesting (if not exactly professional quality) shots of my bird army then.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day 9 of 365.
