I’ve dilly-dallied, moved around, taken long vacations from blogging and made every other possible wrong move with my blog the last couple of years if my goal is to establish and maintain an audience.\u00c2\u00a0 And here I am moving yet again.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve tried to give out only the writerlyhaphazardry.net url the past few month because I knew I was likely to move again.\u00c2\u00a0 If people have linked to that, it’s all good.\u00c2\u00a0 If they’ve subscribed to rss feeds on Typepad, well, that’s not going to work.\u00c2\u00a0 Once again I’ve disrupted any fledgling audience I may have had.<\/p>\n

Not only that.\u00c2\u00a0 I’ve also created a lot of work for myself.\u00c2\u00a0 I had to install this and each iteration I’ve set up as part of the Writerly Haphazardry family the hard way.\u00c2\u00a0 As hard as it gets with WordPress anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 I had to go to the server control panel and click auto-install several times.\u00c2\u00a0 Then I had to upload the plugins and themes I wanted and make sure they were unzipped in the right folders.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s not rocket science, but it is time consuming.\u00c2\u00a0 As will be reworking my links and pages and copying my content over before I cancel my old account.<\/p>\n

So why am I doing this to myself?\u00c2\u00a0 Simple.\u00c2\u00a0 I haven’t been happy.\u00c2\u00a0 All this time I’ve been looking for a place to be blog happy.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 That wasn’t Drupal, and it wasn’t Typepad.\u00c2\u00a0 It wasn’t even WordPress.com.<\/p>\n

I’m so thrilled with this version of WordPress, though, that I’ve just installed it about eight times.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s pretty.\u00c2\u00a0 What can I say?\u00c2\u00a0 It’s easy to feel very slick with this.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of the dozens of templates to choose from on Blogger, WordPress.com or Typepad, you’ve got hundreds of free WordPress theme downloads available to make your site look very nice.\u00c2\u00a0 You also only have to know a little bit about html and css to tweak the themes yourself.\u00c2\u00a0 Very slick stuff.<\/p>\n

Therefore, I’m staying here for a good long while.\u00c2\u00a0 Really.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m not kidding this time.<\/p>\n

A few years ago at CCCC, I saw the name tag Jeff Rice walk by.\u00c2\u00a0 I didn’t think “There’s Jeff Rice.”\u00c2\u00a0 I thought “There’s Yellow Dog<\/a>.”\u00c2\u00a0 He had blogdentity.<\/p>\n

I’m not exactly shooting for having everyone call me Haphazardry.\u00c2\u00a0 I just want my blog to be in a place where everybody knows its name.\u00c2\u00a0 Wish me luck.\u00c2\u00a0 Cheers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
